Sandals La Source Grenada – A spicy addition to the Sandals family

Grenada, located southerly in the Caribbean, is the Spice Island. Cinnamon, pimento, cloves, bay leaves, turmeric, ginger and mace – Grenada grows them all. As a Seattle and Portland Travel Agent, people always ask me which Sandals All-Inclusive Resort is my favorite, and I reply that I can’t really say because every resort offers a unique experience which I believe is the magic of Sandals. However, Sandals La Source Grenadascores high marks with me. The rooms are luxurious and innovative, the restaurants offer distinctive themes, the overall atmosphere is charming and the staff are extremely friendly and willing to make each guests’ vacation the best ever! A real plus – Sandals La Source Grenada is located quite close the airport for an easy transfer with very little accompanying airport noise. On my recent visit to Sandals La Source I enjoyed a split stay in two very different, extraordinary suites:

  • The Pink Gin Beachfront Walkout Club Level Room with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub (room code WB) in the Pink Gin Beachfront Village. Located directly on the beach, you can walk out of the room and onto the beach. Club Sandals service is included. All rooms have a patio with two lounge chairs and a private Tranquility Soaking Tub for two.
  • The South Seas Grande Rondoval Butler Suite with Private Pool Sanctuary (room code RD)offers a circular suite, a spacious patio with a zero entry plunge pool, a whirlpool complete with a waterfall, lounge chaises and dining table. While the living area and sleeping area are spectacular with the open conical ceiling, what stands out in my mind is the bathroom which boasts a large circular soaking tub carved out of solid stone.

Two restaurants favorites are:

  • Neptune’s, located on a beachfront patio, open to the warm Caribbean breezes, specializing in Mediterranean cuisine
  • Butch’s Chop House with its sinfully delicious Lobster Mac & Cheese.

Because I market and sell many Destination Weddings each year at Sandals & Beaches Resorts, I attend Destination Wedding Workshop and Certification. The gardens are beautiful, providing the perfect setting for a wedding. Overall a lovely resort but I found it to be windy on the beach in May, often with yellow and red flags on display. The front pool is quiet and relaxing, the back pool active and noisy.
The air schedule from the Pacific Northwest is currently a challenge. I had an eight hour layover in Miami outbound and a similar layover on the return. I took a night flight from Seattle arriving in the early morning (6am) in Miami then took a hotel room for the day so I could nap and shower in time for my late afternoon flight to Grenada (4pm).

  • TIP: As an American Advantage member I was able to purchase a day pass at their Admiral’s Club which helped with my 6 hour layover on the return!
