St Lucia, with it’s two majestic active volcanos, the Pitons – Gros and Petit – anchor this tropical jewel of the Eastern Caribbean. Historically the island changed hands between the French and English with the English ultimately prevailing. Napoleon’s wife, Empress Josephine, was born in the island of Saint Lucia and not Martinique as commonly supposed.
Sandals Halcyon Beach , in the Sandals St Lucia trifecta, is the smallest resort but BIG in so many ways! A majority of the rooms are located in two-story West Indian style buildings with patios and balconies.  Downstairs rooms can be a bit dark but the upstairs rooms with cathedral ceilings are light and airy. The most romantic accommodations are located in two and three room one-story buildings, or cottages, either fronting the beach or a few steps away. As a Seattle and Portland travel agent, my favorite rooms for my clientele?
Because Sandals Halcyon is a small, boutique resort it has only six restaurants but the beauty of St Lucia is that you may always take a complimentary van to one of the other two resorts, Sandals Grande St Lucian or Sandals Regency La Toc, for a meal, a day at the beach or evening entertainment. Stay at One, Play at Three! The spa at Sandals Halcyon is small and limited but larger more specialized Red Lane Spas are only a van ride away.
